MARCUS LEE
ARTIST

Marcus Lee began painting as a hobby in the fourth grade. His medium is oil with some occasional pen and ink and photography. His teacher taught only the realism style with great emphasis on light, perspective and color. There was not a focus on original subject matter, only copying photos or paintingscreated by other people in whatever style the original artist or photographer was using.
“Now at Hausmann Millworks, I am looking forward to the concept of original exploration – impressionism, surrealism and I style that I call hyperrealism.” His works are marked by great energy and control in his brush strokes balanced by a certain restraint with color. “Even with these new directions, I want strong technique to be as evident as color and composition.Having said that, I want to be seen as an artist and not someone who just paints well.”
Lee only paints for his friends and himself. His works are not for sale. He is employed by the City of San Antonio and markets all of the City’s sustainability programs including recycling, organics, climate initiatives, education and outreach as well as grant administration for local schools’ sustainability projects and programs. He is a native Texan but has traveled extensively.
