Larry Shanks was born and raised on a farm near Rudd, Iowa.  He obtained a Chemical Engineering degree from Iowa State University.  Larry’s entire 33-year working career was spent with Chevron. He retired in 1999. Larry’s interest in woodturning developed after his retirement.  He spent hours developing his technique and skills through trial-and-error and self-education.  His interests evolved into the creation of “Wood Art” forms.  Family and friends are the recipients of most of his work. He is married and has two children.
