The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture is proud to welcome Rex Hausman’s upcoming curated exhibition, An American Story: Friends, Families & Stories. This uniquely personal curatorial undertaking is an intimate tribute to the special relationships formed both inside and outside the art world. Paying homage to his friends and family who have helped form his creative and spiritual journeys, the paintings featured not only reflect Hausmann’s personal narratives but also those of his peers. In a time where relationships are frayed due to differences in opinions and lifestyle choices, An American Story: Friends, Families & Stories reminds us of the power of friendship and family – and our shared need for belonging. And so, we might recall the words of John 15:30: “greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”. The exhibition presents a powerful reminder that human friendships are some of our most valuable assets.
